iPhone OS 3.0 Preview!

Last Tuesday, Apple announced the new consumer and developer features for the next iPhone operating system update. All of the new features will be highly welcome by consumers and open up more opportunities for developers to evolve apps even further.

I'm pretty excited about the new update! Finally, we'll be able to cut, copy, and paste! Searching your iPhone will become a reality, operating much like Spotlight. Also my favorite update will be the ability to use the landscape keyboard while using more applications like Mail and text messaging. I quickly got tired of using the small keyboard, so this will be a much welcomed new feature.

The most notable new feature will be something most iPhone users have complained about the beginning- MMS support. With this new feature, iPhone users will be able to send photos, audio files, contacts, and locations via MMS. Unfortunately, there's a catch... this is only available on the new 3G models. So early adopters who complained of not having this feature that most other phones had, like me, will still be SOL. I'm pretty disappointed about this, especially since I wont be in the market for an iPhone upgrade for awhile. Apple, I love you, but c'mon!

The iPhone OS 3G update should be available for download some time in June, free for iPhone users and $9.95 for iPod Touchers. Check out the Apple's site for a detailed list of new features for consumers and developers.
