Apple's App Store Now Open!

As reported by Gizmodo, Apple has opened the Apple Application Store a day earlier than expected as it was thought to be released tomorrow to coincide with the release of the iPhone 3G. The much-anticipated store will be compatible with the iPod Touch and the iPhone, and with 500 new applications to browse, there's something for everyone.

Steve Jobs recently told the New York Times that out of the 500 new applications, a third of them will be games- great news for iPhone gamers. Also, 25 percent of the 500 apps will be free and the apps that have a price will be $9.99 or lower. Teh  awesome.

Once you open iTunes, you'll need to download an update, so go check it out. I've started looking around and I've already downloaded 8 apps. Can't wait to try them out!

EDIT: The OS X 2.0 update for the iPhone will not be available until tomorrow, to be released along side the iPhone 3G. I was a little confused as to why Apple would open the store a day early and not being able to play with anything along with many people on many different message boards. After some thought, it makes sense to let users browse around and buy applications now instead of waiting until tomorrow when servers are going to be packed with hungry iPhone users wanting apps.
